Bruna Mebs is a Brazilian artist and entrepreneur located in Pennsylvania. She has spent the past few years working with creative people from all over the US and became best known for her ink drawings. Bruna has recently illustrated and published her first coloring book The Olympic Games Coloring Book.

Scott Wiser is a character animator for Film, Games, TV and commercials. He has worked on projects such as Alvin & The Chipmunks 3, Chipwrecked, henchmen, Barbie Spy Squad, All Hail King Julien, Dreamwork’s Dragon’s Adventure (Video game) and more.

He has a bachelor in Art, English and communications and has studied animation in the Chris Oatley Academy. He has an Animation Grand Prize from the National Broadcast Society, and he’s the single creator of his new animated short called “Layers”, An animated short film, Layers features a massive, weary traveler, who has to climb a steep mountain cove to find food. To climb, she has only her failing strength and her magical layers, which store her life’s most vivid memories.

Tiffanie Mang is an illustrator and plein air artist from San Diego. She has worked at the feature film “Loving Vincent” as a painter animator which was a 2018 Oscar Nominated Film for Best Animated Feature. She is now pursuing her passion for fine art in the US and has her own studio space for her art called Studio 15.

She fell in love with drawing and painting, taking art classes since the age of six. Tiffanie studied at the University of Southern California, graduating with a BA in Animation and Digital Arts in 2014. Aside from working in the animation industry as a freelance concept artist and illustrator, her biggest passion is plein air painting and painting landscapes in oils, and today she takes some time to talk about her experience as an artist.

Kurt Chang started his studies of art under her grandmother in Taiwan using Chinese watercolor to do paintings where he learned the basics of art before even knowing that animation was a career. Then he began his professional training in Las Vegas Academy doing a visual arts program where he learned more about fine arts and learned many traditional methods for painting like oil, acrylic, watercolor and more. Then for four years he studied character animation and story art in the digital media department at Otis College Art & Design.

Actionable Steps

  • People need to get over of this “sellout” thing, people need to make a living, and if they do from their art is not being a sellout, is making a living.
  • Beware of burning out when working too heavily on one project, be sure to have other projects or things to help you distract yourself and not be too involved in one.
  • People limit themselves too much, either with the medium they use, the subject of their art, the audience they look for, people don’t experience and branch out enough, test things, learn more, explore more.
  • Post your stuff online, start to make a following, be honest about the people who you want buying your stuff and who you’re making art for and post a lot, post often.

Tatyana Mitkova is a Bulgarian entrepreneur and the Co-Founder of ClaimCompass, a company that helps you get money back from airlines if your flight has been delayed or canceled. She has traveled to many countries and been the winner of many entrepreneurship competitions leading up to be one of the selected startups to be chosen by 500 Startups, one of the best incubators of the world, where she received $150,000 and was mentored in Mountain View, California by many great entrepreneurs from small to huge companies.

  • Start working as soon as possible on your projects, try to travel, try to explore, take internships, take jobs, gain as much experience as possible, don’t keep on thinking about it.
  • Try to communicate your idea as best as possible, be really clear in about 2 minutes, and don’t be afraid of being rejected, keep trying over and over.
  • Even if you find the right people to work with, you have to keep that going, you need to maintain the same goal and high spirits through the challenges for a long time, when people fall into different paths, that’s when partnerships start to fail.
  • Go to events and participate in them, pitch your idea, find the people who want to invest in it, find the people who will be your customers, just don’t overdo it, remember that you have to work on your business as well.
